Did you know that dinosaur DNA is trapped in mosquitos

Did you also know that dinosaurs roamed the earth for about 165 million years, they died out because of an astoriod that hit earth around 65 million years ago.  The astoriod caused such a big cloud that the sun could not reach the earth and almost everything died from starvation and the cold.

Some of the animals to survive were birds, crocodiles, sharks, Lizards, frogs and salamander.

why they died. The Cretaceous . extinction event, or the K-T event, is the name given to the die-off of the dinosaurs and other species that took place some 65.5 million years ago. For many years, paleontologists believed this event was caused by climate and geological changes that interrupted the dinosaurs' food supply. How long did ]it take for the dinosaurs to die after the asteroid?

When a 10-kilometer-wide asteroid hit the Gulf of Mexico 66 million years ago, it drove over 75% of Earth's species to extinction, including the dinosaurs. Ten things I would need to survive at home for four weeks

  1. Apples - the reason i think apples would be good is because they keep for a long time in the fridge compared  to other fruits.

  1. Noodles - I would have noodles cause they taste good.

  1. Steak - the reason I would have steak will be because they come in a lot of pieces.

  1. Macoroni Cheese - I would like to  have macaroni cause they taste good with the flavour sachet on them without mixing it in.

  1. Carrots and Potatoes - These keep you healthy and the carrots give you night vision.

  1. Easter Eggs - They taste yummy and they are made out of chocolate.

  1. Ice cream - I like googy gum drops ice cream and i could eat extra on my birthday in 7 days.

  1. Bread  - Bread would be good if i ran out of other food i could have a sandwich so i would not be hungry.

  1. Honey - For the bread

  1.  Eggs - Eggs are good for you and they are yummy and I could make the bread into toast and eat it with them too.

The Water Project

we have learnt that people need water to live. made by mackley ty jacob

The Water Project

We have learned that other people need water. They need help to get fresh water. They need water to survive.
They need water to grow food and trees, and to stop people from getting sick

What is the goal of the organisation?
The goal is to find fresh water and get it to the people who need it, dig trenches.

Where do they work?
 Africa

What have they achieved?
They have achieved ways to collect water, added taps, making houses with rooves that can collect water.

Now they use barrels instead of walking with containers to find water

How much does at rex skull weigh?
A recent analysis of Sue, published in 2011 in the journal PLOS ONE, shows T. rex weighed as much as 9 tons (about 8,160 kilograms). T. rex had strong thighs and a powerful tail, which counterbalanced its large head (Sue's skull is 5 feet, or 1.5 m, long) and allowed it to move quickly.

britannic facts

 britannic facts

Britannic, in full His Majesty's Hospital Ship (HMHS) Britannic, British liner that was a sister ship of the Olympic and the Titanic. Never operating as a commercial vessel, it was refitted as a hospital ship during World War I and sank in 1916 after reportedly striking a mine.
How did the Britannic sink?
On the morning of 21 November 1916 she was shaken by an explosion caused by a naval mine near the Greek island of Kea and foundered 55 minutes later, killing 30 people. There were 1,065 people on board; the 1,035 survivors were rescued from the water and lifeboats.Did the Olympic and Britannic sink?     HMHS Britannic, which was originally to be named the Gigantic, was the last and largest of the three “Olympic-class” ocean liners to be made. On 30 November 1911 work began but, due to the fateful sinking of its sister ship Titanic in April 1912, construction was stopped and changes to the design were made.

Batman Book

last week we made a book. I wrote a book about Batman and The Joker.

The dark grey storm clouds weep large, ice
cold rain drops. The sun set long ago, and the full moon shines above Gotham City. An alarm goes off from the cold, desolate building that is Gotham Prison. The Joker sprints down an alleyway, his wide grin smiling even wider. He hides behind a dumpster, and the police whoosh past, their sirens on in the cold November air. The joker goes over his plan in his mind. He has the ultimate mission. It is the one crime all criminals wish to accomplish. He’s going to travel to England, and dive through the Thames. He’s going to climb up a slimey, smelly, revolting plumbing tube that’s hundreds of years old. The joker is on his way to Steal the crown jules.
The police send the bat Signal to get batman to go to gordon the leader of the police
Gordon tells Batman that the joker is going to England to steal the crown jules. The joker is now at England. Batman is on his way to England. when Batman gets to England he hops in to the batmobile and starts it up Batman drives the batmobile to the joker. The joker breaks into  the joly store lexloofor and the riddler find the joker in the july store the joker breaks the glass the joker and lexloofor get the jules. Batman sneks to the door. Batman gets the joker.
the police take the joker and the riddler to Gotham City prison.

Collage

In  class we have been doing work  on a collage which is based on plastic.  We had to watch a video about plastic and how it is bad  for the environment. We made some sea animals to stick on our collage and we added some  plastic bits and some  pieces to stick on. We found it hard when we had to draw the sea animals.  Next time we could try and find a more easy picture to draw. The animals have good impact because of all of the bright colours and  we could  put a dark colour around the animals to make them stand out.

Bin Liners Persuasive Letter

In room 5 we have been learning why we should not be use plastic bin liners in the school bins. We are learning to persuade.

In our school we have plastic bags in the class bins as liners.    think we should not have plastic bin liners in the bins. There  are two good reasons why I believe we should not use plastic  bin liners.

Firstly we  use 10 plastic bags a day 50 plastic bags a week 500 plastic bags a term and 2,000 in 4 terms. It  wastes money.

Secondly, it is bad for the environment because plastic bags kill sea animals and the  farm animals

In conclusion we don't need  plastic bin liners in the bins.
